Efter gennemsnitligt 18 \u00e5rs forbrug udviste de m\u00e6nd, der have f\u00e5et betakaroten signifikant h\u00f8jere score p\u00e5 adskillige kognitive tests sammenlignet med placebo-gruppen.<\/p>\n<p>Det antages, at kognitive problemer som glemsomhed og egentlig demens har en sammenh\u00e6ng med oxidativt stress, og at de gode resultater skyldes betakarotens antioxidative egenskaber. Oxidation er en almindelig, men overordentlig skadelig biologisk proces, som ogs\u00e5 er en af n\u00f8glefaktorerne i et indre milj\u00f8, der fremmer kr\u00e6ft og andre alvorlige sygdomme.<\/p>\n<p>Studiet omfattede ogs\u00e5 en gruppe, som fik de samme tilskud og blev fulgt i gennemsnitligt 1 \u00e5r.
